1. Who May Use Vortigern

You must be at least 13 years old, or older if your country sets a higher minimum for using Discord.
You must have a Discord account in good standing and comply with the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
To add the bot to a server you must have the Manage Server permission there.
If you use Roblox features, you must also comply with the Roblox Terms of Use.

If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian before using the service.

2. What Vortigern Provides

Vortigern provides moderation tooling, faction and roster management, shift tracking, session status, and logging for Roblox roleplay communities on Discord. Features are enabled per server by that server's owner.

Vortigern is provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no paid tier, and we never ask for payment details. If anyone asks you to pay for Vortigern, it is not us.

The service is under active development. Features may be added, changed, or removed, and we do not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Vortigern to:

Break any law, or violate Discord's or Roblox's terms or guidelines.
Harass, threaten, stalk, doxx, or abuse anyone.
Collect or surveil people's information for any purpose beyond legitimate moderation of your own community.
Enable message content logging without informing your members that it is on.
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the bot, dashboard, other servers' data, or any account that is not yours.
Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure.
Run automated requests at a volume intended to degrade the service, or circumvent rate limits.
Impersonate Vortigern, its developer, or Discord staff.
Resell, sublicense, or present the service as your own.

If you enable message content logging, you are responsible for telling your members. The setting is off by default and you choose whether to turn it on. Depending on where your members live, logging their messages without notice may breach privacy law. That obligation is yours, not ours.

4. Server Owner Responsibilities

If you add Vortigern to a server, you are responsible for:

Deciding which features are enabled and who on your staff can access them.
Telling your members what is being logged, especially message content.
How your staff use the data the dashboard shows them.
Keeping your Bloxlink API key and in-game ingest key confidential. Anyone holding your ingest key can submit game events to your server's logs.
Responding to your own members' questions about how you use the tooling.

You can export or erase your server's data at any time from Settings → Data & Privacy, and removing the bot from your server erases that server's data automatically.

5. Your Data

How we handle information is set out in full in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary: message content is never stored unless a server owner turns it on, you can download your own data at any time from the dashboard and request its erasure from the same page, and we never sell your data.

6. Intellectual Property

Vortigern's name, logo, dashboard design and source code belong to its developer. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the service as it is offered — they do not transfer any ownership.

Content you supply — faction descriptions, uploaded icons, application answers, posts — remains yours. By submitting it you grant us permission to store and display it as needed to operate the features you are using. You are responsible for having the right to upload anything you upload.

Vortigern is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc. or Roblox Corporation. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

7. Availability and Disclaimer

Vortigern is a hobby project, self-hosted by one person, and provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. There is no uptime guarantee, no support commitment, and no promise that data will not be lost.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any data it stores will be preserved. Outages, bugs, data loss, and discontinuation are all realistic possibilities.

Do not rely on Vortigern as your only record of anything important. Keep independent backups of moderation records you need to retain.

Vortigern is a community moderation and roleplay tool. It is not a professional service, and nothing it produces — logs, audit entries, punishment records, applications, or reports — is a legal, disciplinary, employment, or evidentiary record. Do not use it as the basis for any decision that requires one.

You use the service at your own risk, and you accept that data stored in it may be lost, corrupted, or become unavailable at any time and without notice.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of Vortigern is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or server activity, arising from your use of or inability to use the service — even if advised of the possibility.

Because the service is provided free of charge, total aggregate liability for any claim relating to it is limited to USD $0, being the amount you have paid to use it.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer of Vortigern from any claim, demand, loss, or expense — including reasonable legal fees — arising from your use of the service, the content you submit through it, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of anyone else's rights.

If you operate Vortigern in a server you administer, this includes claims arising from how you and your staff use it: the moderation actions you take, the records you keep, and the data you choose to collect from your members. Those are your decisions, not ours.

10. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to Vortigern — for an individual, a server, or entirely — at any time and without notice, particularly where these Terms have been breached or where use of the service threatens others or the infrastructure.

You may stop at any time: remove the bot from your server, which also erases that server's data, or request erasure of your personal data from the dashboard. We may also discontinue the service entirely; we will give notice in the support server where practical.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms as the service develops. The effective date at the top always shows the current version, and material changes will be announced in the support server before taking effect. Continuing to use Vortigern after a change means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not, stop using the service and remove the bot.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from them will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the United States , and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
